Default ff89

I need some advice please. Recently got the dtc code ff89 and the check engine light on the instrument panel, which is the charcoal canister purge valve circuit. Mine is a 94 xjs 2+2 with the 4.0. Can I unplug or eliminate the purge valve to remove the ff89 and dash light? There are still some new purge valves available and should I just replace it?
Thanks in advance, John

Default ff89 update

So I pulled the left front tire and the fender inside cover, and no purge valve there by the charcoal canister. The purge valve is in the engine bay, just before the hoses go thru the fender. So just below the maf sensor. I got the bosch after market valve 0280 142 150 for $40 US. and it works fine. This valve only works for xjs up to vin 174800 so double check if your vin is higher.

John,

If you've got a 94 car, your VIN must be higher than 174800?
