Default Leak from washers inside cab

Afternoon,
Does anyone know how to get to the passenger side windscreen washer pipework? I think a pipe has come off as water drips into the cockpit when it's used. It appears that the tubes carrying water from the tank are inside another bigger flexible tube that disappears inside the bodywork near the windscreen. Is access from outside under the wipers or inside requiring some contortionism under the dash to get at it?

As far as I know, none of the wiper fluid hoses run inside the cabin. The hoses go directly from the washer bottle to the spray jets.

To gain access you need to remove the wiper/motor/spray jet assembly;

There are only 2 bolts and 2 nuts that hold it in place so its not too difficult to remove. Once you remove the bolts and nuts you can lift the assembly enough to disconnect the wiper motor harness and washer hoses.

If washer fluid is leaking into the cabin then you must have a hole or some missing sealant. It is also possible that the drain holes are plugged.

After you remove the wiper assembly look into the body. There are 2 drain holes there that are easily plugged with dirt, leaves etc. Clean the area thoroughly and make sure the holes are clear.

You will also be able to see if there are any rust holes or seams that need to be sealed. Any good silicone/rubber sealant can be used to fill the seams and prevent water from leaking into the cabin.

It sounds like the hose for the windshield washer is leaking. On my 89 the drains under the wiper where plugged causing water to leak inside the car.

I took that part off and can see there is no way for any water to get in to the cab. I have found a new problem. The washer jets don't fire out any water any longer. They appear to be heated as there is some wiring going to them from the motor. I took them off and water comes out of both tubes. Nothing when put back on. Tried a wire in to scrape out any muck but still no flow. Any ideas, anyone?
Follow up: I got a stronger wire and finally managed to get the concrete out of both of em.
TIA

Fixed! You have to lift the whole grill to get at all the tubing. Unscrew the clips holding the wiring and tubing, disconnect and pull the electrical heater wiring / jets all in one out through the grill. Then you can clean them out far more easily. Straightened out paper clip I used. Blow through them until they are clear. Run them under the tap. Simple job really.

Quite so!

By the by, there is a way for water to enter the cabin from the windscreen wiper recess. It is impossible to see without a mirror, but in each side of the recess, below the area of the recess shrouded by the bodywork valance between the front of the windscreen and the bonnet closing line, is the intake for a heater blower. This can leak and water get inside. This is why it is important to clean out the two 1 inch diameter drain holes that lead from the front vertical face of the wiper recess through rubber then steel tubes out through the inner wheelarches.

Good idea to check these while the wiper mechanism is out.

Greg
