NEW class,OUTLAW XJS
was talking with a PORSCHE guy at local car show, he just came back in town,
from the AMELIA ISLAND CONCOURS SHOW Jax. Fla.
he said that the Porsche Werks reunion has started a new class and it became a big hit with the spectators, called OUTLAW PORSCHE.
must be early 356 to early 911s, must be modified, NOT stock and boring!
YEP, gotta love these crazy Americans, taking a rare Porsche and chopping it up, hopping it up even engine conversion(Chevy V8 etc).
any way he was looking at my XJS , and he called it an (OUTLAW JAG )!
well as in domestic cars called restomod are a big spectator draw, i'm gonna call mine an OUTLAW JAG, what say opinions?
actually when i bring mine to shows for many years , people are all around asking questions etc.
while back some CHINESE guys(form UT university) were excited about it, and waited about 1/2 hour for me to fire it up just to HEAR the exhaust sound, all twelve cylinders out one outlet, RROOWWUUMM!

I like it. It's kind of a big FU to the purist but I'm not sure a sanctioned class appeals to them. Kind of defeats the while outlaw idea. That's gonna be a tricky one to balance. I'm sure the good people at these classified events will figure it out.
The outlaw Porsche has been around for a long while and some of the builds are high quality and very high dollar. There's even a sub-catagory called "Urban Outlaw" most typified by a collector / builder named Magnus Walker. Most of his cars are highly collectible.
The outlaw idea and good builds could really inject some much needed collector attention for the Jaguar brand and and especially the XJS model. The shape is there, someone has to come along and do it well.
As an XJS outlaw, it's gonna have to be an early jag with an manual trans and a reworked body with tauter bumpers. Probably two tone like the TRW racers, those cars look good. And certainly lower and wider but pinched in the middle.
Totally Original car will always be worth something more but every model have a few runts which are suitable for modifications. For example, a high mileage car or really nice car that had some superficial but sketchy repairs will never be worth much to a collector but could be very interesting/valuable if re-imagined correctly.

Awesome class... Even though people think I am an original fetishist, I'm actually not. I love modding the hell out of my cars. Just my XJ-S is limited legally.
My XJ8 is getting the lot. Lowered, stiff suspension setup to corner quickly, has a custom exhaust, will soon habe wide wheels, custom paintjob, ...
If the road tax was a little cheaper for the V12, I'd not bother about the H certification. Consider this as a comparisson:
3.2l V8 with Euro 2: €242 tax/year
5.3l V12 with Euro 0: €1200 tax/year
5.3l V12 with Euro 0 and H plates: €179 tax/year

yes i remember that car, California, ride it didnt have any!
looked wild and wooley!
seems he moved on, that was so long ago, SJ- XJS were running around $500 to $1500.
so you could rushem and crushem.
in FLa. a local junkyard said ,he got one or two old Jags SJ and XJS every month!
cut out the rear cage assemblies , sold them for $50 bucks each, for Hot rods, the rest was shredded and crushed sold to China by the pound!
