No start of 1996 V12 6 litre
I agree, Steve. Although I don't need to worry about the wiring in the car I'm working on, as the Pump problem seems to be resolved; the flylead on "my" one went direct from the Multilocks in the top right corner of the boot, direct to the plug shown in my photo without any joins or that taped connection that yours shows, kansanbrit. I might politely suggest that you want to undo that tape and see what's connected in there, as I don't think there should be any wiring connections prior to the plug on the tank.

The self-healing miracle continued at the weekend as I decided to investigate the non-working door mirrors.
Examination of the fuse confirmed it was intact. The adjustment switch is not known as a common failure point, and I didn't really want to have to take the mirrors off or try and get into the motors. So more in hope than expectation, I sat in the car and repeatedly pressed the switch up and down whilst gently pressing the mirror glass in the appropriate directions with my finger. After 5 minutes of repeated pressing, I suddenly heard a minor actuation of the motor when pressing upwards. Continued operation and it started to work more and more. 5 minutes later and the same process seemed to kick the downward actuation back into life also.
Flushed with success, I then started on the left and right movements. Within 10 minutes, I had this working also. Great!
I then started on the passenger side, sitting on the centre armrest and operating the switch whilst gently pressing the mirror glass. This was slightly more obstinate but after 20 minutes, it was also working in all 4 directions. I checked them again today and they seem to still be ok with just the occasional stickiness in one direction. I'll exercise them each day from now on.
Yet another example of why we should constantly use our cars!
I've now also removed and fully cleaned the front and rear x-braces, I remembered how tight the rear fixings can be, so sprayed lubricant up through the access holes the day before. It still took a long breaker bar to crack them - that rear brace really gets coated in diff oil and wax, mixed and congealed with general road dirt! Pics to follow.
Next step, close examination and clean of the subframes.

You must have quite a slim physique to be able to sit on the center console.
I'm guessing you have the top down????
When I got my 94 coupe the drivers door was crashed in so was non op.
The only access was thru the passenger side and I was JUST slim enough to squeeze through.
Now..... that would never be possible.

It was more a case of kneeling speadeagled across both seats and the console, one hand blindly tucked behind the steering wheel to the mirror switch, and other arm outstretched to the passenger mirror! Not very elegant, but it worked!
