anyone out there know what exactly the paint code is for black.....in my research i come up with trim black and metallic black and clearcoat black for 1990 jag xjs, i am going to repaint my car black ---color change--- but i need help on getting the right black.....any black xjs owners please pipe up...thanks

 

You "should" have an ID sticker somewhere in/near/about the left door jamb or A-pillar area. It'll have the paint code.

Is your missing? It also has the VIN, production date, trim code, etc.

thanks doug, yes i am doing a paint color change. the originial is a light blue color, i want black, but a bit confused on the types of black for a 1990 xjs. any help much appreciated in advance

 

I can probably get to the garage & find the code for you in the morning, but going from memory of the mid 80s brochures with paint samples, it's called Lamp Black. Maybe you can cross reference it.

 

When I look online I am confused I see for 1990 xjs trim black....metallic black....clearcoat black etc....several blacks.....

 

I've looked at mt XJS reference books thinking one of them would surely have a list of colors and codes but they didn't.
