Default Problems with Radiator swap 1988

Well it seems as if they changed the fittings on the radiator somewhere in 1988. was 1/4 inch slip on to 3/8 inch hose compression screw on. In my car i had the screw on fittings, rad went south so i purchased a good one 40,000 mi on it. Cut the hoses and used hose clamps to rad. (too much pressure) Struggling on what to do any suggestions.

Hmmmm. I've "hose clamped" trans cooler hoses a few times over the years without any problems from too much pressure.

Not sure of your exact arrangement but if you've simply clamped the hoses to a cut-off stub of pipe you might need double clamps or, better yet, some fittings with a rolled bead (or barbs) to hold the hose.

Cheers

Doug thanks, maybe the double clamping will work.

If it does not, check for a blockage in the rad cooler.
