SO my center trip computer has always worked great, it shows the time/computes fuel mileage, etc..but today when I opened the car it was displaying as in the attached pic. Pushing buttons does nothing, I can't clear it. Anyone know what this means? is it a code? It was there before I even tried to start the car.
So I'm not sure if it helps at all, but my experience is similar. The computer in my car worked perfectly when parked. It sat for a few years and now it won't do a thing. It's a joke now with my wife, we get in the car and she says "we're late, it's 88:85 o'clock!" and no matter how many buttons I push, it wont do what I want it to do. Earlier computer than yours I know, but I'm fairly certain mine is toast. I hope yours hasn't done the same!
Glad to hear it sounds like this is something to do with the computer and not a code for an issue somewhere else in the car, still I hate this has happened. I'm starting to feel like I can't fix anything on this car without something else breaking.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then reconnecting to see if that resets the computer? The fact that it doesn't respond sounds like it it locked up. Turning the car off with the key doesn't completely remove power from the computer.

That did it! Interestingly it reset twice. I put power back to the battery, reset the clock, the clock went to 12:00 again and I reset it again and then it stuck. Still, seems to be working now. Thanks!
Maybe Microsoft designed it, and that is your version of a blue screen of death! If it does it again repeatedly, I'd suspect noise/ripple on the 12v charging circuit, maybe a sign of the alternator diodes getting weak.
