Default 10,000 mile oil? Yes*

Proof is in the pudding as they say. Here's Penzoil Ultra Euro 5W-40 at 7200 miles. Chart says 5W-30 for some reason but it's not. Age of the oil and additives accounted for the sodium level which is well inside normal limits. Viscosity was still good as was additive levels. It would seem time is the enemy more than miles.

*It was recommended by the chemist that this oil is certainly good for 10,000 miles and it was still providing protection above the manufacturers specification with the caveat that the vehicle is driven regularly and changed at least once a year max.

I've switched to Penzoil platinum 10W-30 and will do a 5k check on it. It's quite a bit cheaper on the front side but will see if it can safely go the distance. If changes are twice as often you lose money in the long run.

A lot of people change the oil earlier than scheduled out of caution. The price of a new engine is a lot more than oil and can understand the position. Although this is just a snapshot of a well cared for Jag that undergoes normal driving it proves the 10k oil change interval (with the right oil) is well within the realm of safe.

I notice your not giving us a particulate size in your printout. What are you filtering down to?

I never worry too much about modern engines , fully synthetic oils & modern micro filters . the 08 Peugeot 308 150 SE turbo I used to run, stated in the owners handbook, I Oil Change , every 20.000 miles or 2 yrs . Mind you , we don't have the American historic , & rather pedantic phobia about our engine oil in UK .
