Default 2016 XK Sales Noted by Jaguar

I saw a '16 YTD sales chart for Jaguar and it mentioned 2 XK's selling this year... Are those 2015 or 2016 model year cars? What is the last official model year for XK? I thought it was 2015....

If there had been a 2016 MY, those would be abysmal sales figures!
I'd guess it was either the sale of some old stock as 'new', or somebody fat-fingered some sales records that should have been recorded as XE, XF, or XJ.

They easily could have been sold in January or February as last-in-stock.

They are definitely MY 2015, as this was the last official MY for the XK series. (Production ended in the summer of 2014.)
There are in fact quite a few "new" (unregistered) unsold MY 2015 XK series cars still available on dealers lots.

An example is this dealer still stuck with three including a 2013 and a 2015 XKR-S. Good luck getting even 2/3 of the $138,000 MRSP for that!

Jaguars in general plummet in value faster than almost any other luxo car. I can not understand or imagine any new car Jaguar dealer with any left overs XKs. They must be losing money not by the day but by the minute. I have no clue why they would still have any unsold new XKs in inventory????

Here is another dealer with an unsold 2015 still on the lot.

This one has been registered to an owner previously so it is not considered to be a "new" car anymore. But oh, what a bargain it is if this is what you are looking for...

I'd be buying a new car right now, if only it was located in the right WA!

Usually the 1st and last model year are considered very collectible cars. These 2 fit the bill as one is a convert and one a coupe. I suspect the dealer won't get the asking price but maybe someone would get a good deal for the mid to high 90's. The IRR would be my choice but then again it took me 6 months to find mine so it is pretty rare.

Only time will tell if my statement is true, but I personally think that the thought of these cars becoming collectible from first, last, or middle is a pipe dream. The only X150's I see having a chance of this is the XKR-S. But only if it can gain a dedicated fan base willing to pay, like what is happening with the previous generation XJ, the Portfolio (the model combines the Supercharged v8 model with the VandenPlas plus some extras) is being stalked and snapped up by an eager buying audience intent on ownership. Therefore the price is driving up WAY beyond what the current market price of a Super V8 or VandenPlas models sell for...

I agree with the XKR-S and the GT as potentially being more collectible then an XKR but with regards to the XJ there is a difference between a sedan and a GT type car. Somehow I don't see a plain vanilla sedan where tons of them were built fitting in with a low volume sports or GT type car. I can see a 2006 XKR Portfolio version and the same 2015 as being desirable in 10-20 years. Just my opinion.

Firstly, IMO buying a new/used car is not an investment unless there is something very special about it or it is already a "collector car". Having said that, there is something very special about Jaguars. I have been owning/driving Jaguars ever since 1974 with only two detours on the way. In 76 I bought a top of the line BMW (big mistake). I think is was a 3.0 SI, I owned it one week and replaced it with a 1976 XJ 12L.

The other was a 1982 Porsche 928, I wore it out and replaced it with a Gray Market VanDen Plas 12L in 1985. Sure I take a beating when it comes time to trade/sell them - but, what is most important is the unbridled enjoyment I have gotten from each of the dozen daily driver Jaguars I have had the privilege to own. And, that doesn't count the 67 Series 1 OTS I had as a toy for several years.

I guess the point of the above for me anyway is you get what you pay for and if you should score better than average when it comes time to change Jaguars that is a + factor.

That one may be the last new 2015 XK or XKR in captivity.

I visited the Jag dealer in Victoria BC last year and the had a new 2015 XKR Convertible on the floor for $ 122,900.00
I was offered a discount to 92000 and a trade allowance of 48,000 for my 2008 XK Coupe with 11,000KM
Unfortunately the XKR Convertible just did nothing for me.
I love my coupe, have since new and I have no reason to upgrade.
