Default air filter replacement milage for 2o1o xkr

does anyone know when you are supposed to replace it. my car has 20k miles on it and i definitely feel a loss of power. i know you can take it out and if you can see light through it then its time to change it but i really dont feel like doing all that. also does anyone know how much the replacement filters are from jaguar? if they are pricey, might as well do the intake upgrade from mina gallery. anyone here done that?

A K&N is about $56. Dont know about OEM.
When in doubt, check it out... 20K would be worth looking at...

Personally, I would replace the air filter at 20 k miles. These filters are available from most auto stores, sometimes they must order it, at reasonable cost. Do not mess with replacing the air induction/filter apparatus with fancy after mkt stuff. It's IMHO a poor investment. Some people, myself included, will not buy a car with these type of mods.

You say the car is down on power. How many miles on it and what else has been done in terms of repairs or regular maintenance? You don't sound like a DIY dude. Perhaps it's time you found a competent indie service provider for routine service?

i am a diy dude actually. i have torn entire engines apart and rebuilt them. if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. indie service providers are a rip off.

my xkr has right under 20k miles on it. only maintenance that has been done was a scheduled maintenance by jaguar which im pretty sure is only an oil change and i dont think they touch the air filter. i was just wondering if anyone knew when we are supposed to change it.

Useally around 60k, but depends on how dirty your environment. Only used "matched sets" when replacing dual airfilters. We have alot of issues on the dual pop intakes(2 filters) with air balance and throwing codes. Its from differant dates of manufacture and the slight differances in airflow in filter material. And is enough to cause balanced fueling problems. More an issue on xfrs, but jaguar only sells matched sets now boxed together so they cannot be mixed up. The dates of manufacture are stamped on the side pleate

thats actually really interesting and i have heard about that before and totally forgot about it. well if the replacement time is around 60k then im way under that. im only at 20k miles. so if its not my air filter then i wonder what it could be thats slowing me down.

Are you sure your actually going slower??? Reason i say this is first time i launched my race car with its 1200hp 580cid. It scaired the crap out of me. After 30 passes it felt like it slowed down. Actually it never did i was just getting used to it, and it didnt have the same wahbam factor as when I first cvhanged the engine. Remember when you were young and 2 beers felt more like 6 does now
