surely I'm busting chops here, but all kidding aside, I still don't trust backup cameras 100%. I need to look back 1st, and then maybe check the camera.
Unless the top is down, the view out the rear of the convertible is seriously limited, so I greatly appreciate the 'mostly' integrated camera I have (2 taps on the screen (select Nav, dismiss sensor graphic), and one on a separate button (for the GVIF)).

I'm with Bigbully. I didn't want anything but seamless integration. I considered several other options, but luckily I have a 2010, so the Factory setup was possible. It didn't cost much either! It DID however dictate a specific version of SDD to actually activate it, so there's a cost in doing that.

I also have the factory integrated on my 07. A few more hoops to jump through with some files from Camp/ JaHummer that you had to do but got it just the same. There's upside to the previous setup using GVIF though. You don't have to get a rear view camera unless you want one.

Big bully,
Absolutely use all tools available to you... turn around and look, check all mirrors, check camera, listen and look again. I’m at about 50 years of driving with a couple instances of backing into something so managed pretty well without the camera for most of those years. As turning around to look is a bit more difficult these days and, as Sean noted, increased blind spots in some vehicle, the camera is helpfully but of course not the substitute for careful driving.

My major reason for using any backup camera is in my truck. Actually SEEING the trailer tongue go directly over the hitch ball with zero assistance and zero 'get out and look' is a great feeling.

I hazard to guess anyone needing a backup camera in an XKR... is not driving fast enough, forwards.

That was my original rationale, as I already had a GVIF inplace to display gauges from a Camp-2, adding the camera was icing on the cake.
Turned out to be very useful (first car I had that now had a reverse camera). When I have some free time I’ll upgrade to the OEM method, but that will be a while.
