Default Convert from US to UK/Europe 315 to 434MHz?

I am considering converting my Fobs/KVM US spec XK X150 2007 from 315MHz to UK/Europe 434MHz. (Remotes don’t work anymore) I am unsure about if the Fob slot in the console need to be replaced too, or is all the security taken care of in the instrument cluster, KVM, ECU and Remotes?

I know I can try to reprogram the KVM unit again, but according to the dealer this is a bit risky. They cannot guarantee that the Immo RFID chip will not be disabled too!

(My SDD167/350 is working perfect, but I am not an expert user yet even if I have updated a lot of modules successfully

There is so much misleading info on the net so I hope for better luck here.

Why risk bricking your car?

Please explain how the benefits (whatever they are) outweigh the risk?

For the 2007 Model Year only, there were two different (and not interchangeable) Smartkey fobs: Single Channel and Multi-Channel. Do you know which one is yours?

Read this thread from 2011:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ramming-53187/

"The guiding document for programming those keys has numerous steps in 31 pages that must be followed, and recovery processes in the event something goes wrong. I know it's expensive, but you should leave that to the dealer, that way if something goes wrong, it's on them to recover."

I strongly recommend that you take your car to a Jaguar dealer. Good luck!

Furthermore, your Jaguar Smartkey is electronically paired with various modules in your car. If the "handshakes" aren't completed, your car won't start.

Here's how to determine if your 2007 Smartkey is Single Channel or Multi-Channel:

Default Donor kit?

Thanks for your replies!

I have spoken with the dealer and they are willing to try a reprograming, but they have bad experience with early US spec cars. (single channel B0xxxx fobs) They quoted me about 2000£ and long waiting time for parts - If a reprogramming didn’t work? That is not interesting.

I was thinking about buying a complete ECU kit from a donor car and just swap it over – no risk with this and cheaper too, but unsure about the antennas between 315 and 434Mhz. I guess it will work, but with a shorter coverage …

I can try to reprogram the KVM myself and probably will, but I need to have some form of backup. That’s why I was thinking about a donor kit. Instrument cluster with the same or lover mileage, KVM module, two keys and an engine ECU. I have already reprogrammed a used ECU to this car and that was no problem – so I can do it without a matching ECU.

My question was if anybody knew if I needed a new FOB slot too?

Is it locked to the keys?

John

Hoo-boy are YOU asking for trouble for no good reason whatsoever.
I see a non-moving lump of aluminum, steel and leather in your future. All for the low price of £2000!

Default I like upgades!

Maybe I should mention that I like upgrading and flashing modules and stuff. Electronic is my hobby and sometimes it hard to keep my hands away! This is no hurry, In two months the car goes into winter storage and in the meantime I can use the key in the door lock as we all did in the good old days! :-)

Here is a link to the service manual and wiring diagrams. Let us know what you find in terms of parts needing replacement and parts needing reprogramming vs plug and play:

If electronics is your hobby maybe you could swap out the crystal (18.370 in mine) from the other FOB?
