Default Creaking Sound When Braking.

Is it normal for the OEM brake pads to make the creaking noise when applying them at low speeds? I am planning on replacing them soon with ceramics due to the excessive dust and was hoping the creaking will be gone as well. My service advisor says the OEM pads do creak. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Yes, it's normal. But there is a TSB out for it where you apply a special grease to specific parts of the pads/calipers to prevent the noise.

Yes it is a common issue. I had it on my 2007 XK until I renewed the pads all round with the Akebono ceramics. Greased up the caliper/pad contact points thoroughly using regular brake grease, tightened everything up and all is good. To be honest I did nothing special or use any special grease. A little TLC was all that was needed.

Glad to hear that the ceramics helped eliminate the creaking. Akebonos are not available for my fronts so I am going for Centric Posi Quiet Ceramics all around. I haven't bothered with the TSB hoping that just changing the pads would be the remedy.

It was difficult enough finding Ceramics for fronts and rears on my 2010 XK which I found out is different than the 07-09 XKs. I'm not sure of availability for the limited production models. I have a feeling it might be a task to find them.
