Daylight Running Lights (only when regular lights are on)
Hi everyone,
I have an 2013 XK convertible.. it is equipped with the LED bars around the main headlights.. but they only work when unlocking/locking the car.. and when I have the regular lights on.. They are not on during the day when my regular lights are off while driving... For security reasons (and mostly because it looks way cooler) I want to have them on during normal day driving as well.
So I asked the dealer, but they are not sure there is an option like this in the onboard computer and they will charge me around $150 for checking/enabling this in the computer (if available)..
Does anyone have an idea if this option is available and if it's as easy as 123 to switch it on ?

Funny but maybe this is country related. My 2012 has them on all the time regardless if the main headlights are on or not. There must be a feature to turn them on .

Looks pretty cheap. They are unlikely to get many requests like this - yours is probably the only one so far. Thy want to charge, not really a surprise, so why not pay them?
IIRC, from different threads, its a country specific setting, so most dealers won’t be able to change it, they’re locked out. You need to find someone with an unlocked version of SDD to be able to change it in the car configuration data.
What KJ said, it is easily changeable in SDD, but some places do have the option locked. You can use my SDD, but since you're in Abu Dhabi it may not be feasible.
I found the wiring harness and spliced this relay into headlight so that when i start the car the LEDs go on Found this through a search after the dealer told me they couldn't do it. I've had it working this way for 7 months now
Defo country specific as a legal requirement in the EU to have DRL's working in all situation since 2011, even when all other lights were switched off.
