Anybody know how much I should be prepared to pay for this fix??

First it was the Dash, now it's the ceiling. I guess these are the perils of having a 2007

 

It's the same adhesive that failed on both the dash and the headliner. I'm sure you can find an upholsterer to do it for a couple of hundred dollars.

 

I had the Alcatera headliner come down on my 08 XKR. That material was thick enough that the guy was able to clean the sponge off and re-glue it. $200.

 

Usually the problem is not with the glue. I had this problem with my XJS years ago and what usually happens is the foam back dries out from heat. The back of most headliners is a thin foam coat on the material. Over the years the heat and humidity and cold dry this out and it turns to dust. When you pull the liner down you will see the inside of the roof will still have the glue but the foam will be dust. I went to a interior shop and they stripped out the old liner and installed a new one. It was not OEM but looked great and new. It was a suede material.

 

If your guy did a good job, $200 was a great deal! Quality upholstery work can be expensive.

 

Maybe not perfectly pretty but, less than $4 and I fixed my headliner. Woulda been better if I didn't have a beer in the other hand.

These are described in other threads, I picked mine up at Joann Fabrics, found em at Amazon too.

Clear plastic head, little screw attached to that, "drills" into the backing perfectly, snugs it up nicely.

 

This looks like a "cheap" $4.00 job. You own a premium automobile. Pay the money to get this issue fixed properly. Your driving a Jaguar, not a Toyota.

 

This car is for my 16 yr old kid, it's got 126k miles on it, not sure if it'll last another week, month or year.

I've got bigger things to worry about than headliners.

And btw, I also drive a Toyota Tacoma, got a problem with that too?

 

We got about 6 years out of the headliner of my wife's 2003 XK8. Paid $700.00 at an upholstery shop, to have it replaced. The guy did an excellent job of matching the material. I was very surprised that the headliner went so soon, since the headliner on my 2001 Lexus is still pristine. Upholsterer told us that he has seen a lot of Jags with this problem.
