Interesting XK(R)

Interestingly I find the XK doesn't look very good in some colors (to me). I can't put my finger on why but I prefer darker colors (Black the best.....up to and including red). I typically like white cars but I really don't like the XK in white...especially the coupe (tho the convertible does kinda look classy in white...so I'm already back peddling). Some of the wilder colors that some of the Italian exotics get away with just don't seem right on the Jaguar...is it possible to ingrain that righteous British politeness/breeding into a car's design?...if so the wild colors that scream "look at me" in a rather obnoxious rude way just does not seem to be true to the British way...maybe, maybe not.

That's the 2005 ALC concept car. More pics here:

It looks like a version of the Jaguar Advanced Lightweight Concept car (MOZ ?) but a crappy one at that! Don't like those wheels and I'm not a fan of the "slammed" look.
Seeing the ALC when it was announced is what caused me to promise myself one of the "new XK's" when it eventually came out (and I could afford one) and has been my desktop picture for a very long time now.
I'm rather surprised there are XK/R owners on here that haven't seen the ALC before.
Probably says something about Jaguar's publicity department.

I have no problem now I know it's a concept car. I actually like to front end now I see the pics. They even eliminated the amber side markers on the headlight unit. The saddle brown interior looks sweet! The back end is still not my taste but for a concept....the wilder the better.
Does anyone know if Jaguar still owns this concept? Reason is, I'm suprised Jaguar would allow an aftermarket wheel company (MOZ in this case) to put on wheels on their concept car.

I actually prefer the ALC to the 'real' XK. The front end especially, for me, works better than the XK. The XKR is an improvement, but not perfect.
The rear end basically has the LED lights we had to wait until 2010 to get on the real car. The exhaust pipes, well it was a concept car, but I don't mind.
The door mirrors are pretty much 2010 style too and the headlights are SO much better without that grotesque orange reflector!

Most of the changes between concept and production were probably to make the car street legal in as many countries as possible - fog lights, side markers etc. It's possible LED tail lights weren't legal in some markets in 06 either. The rear spoiler was probably added to get the stop light at the required height.
I think the production car has a little more ground clearance too. And the front splitter looks more cosmetic than functional on the concept.
