Looking at buying a 2008 XK
Hello to all,
I've owned several Jaguars throughout the years and am now looking for an XK.
Looking at this as a possibility but some concerns from the pictures. The condition of most of the car seems good but it does not mesh with the condition of the steering wheel and the back seats, both of which look to have been somehow damaged. Any thoughts?

ANd are there particular problems to look for on the 2008 model?

It does! However carfax shows regular maintenance at Jaguar Dealer....

It's listed at $22,900 on Truecar.
The door card inserts are quite dirty also.
I'd think that if it was easily cleaned or whatever, that the dealer would have done that.
Probably some sort of leather repair or redyeing would be required.

It now looks like the dealer replaced the pictures for ones after cleaning.... I questioned them about it and they haven't replied...but the pictures have changed.
Posting this for anyone that looks at the thread now as they will wonder what we were talking about....

Looking at the current pictures, I immediately see glazing on the steering wheel leather, and significant wear on the drivers seat and stitching. For the most part, pictures are worthless for any serious consideration of purchase. The price is high, I think, for the age and condition but if it's everything you want then give it a sniff test and visual inspection and have it PPI'd by a main dealer and paint & body specialist. Personally I'd keep looking unless it was half the listed price.

They replaced all the pictures. The first set of pictures had rain on the body and a dirty interior....seems like it cleaned up quite a bit and they reposted the pictures this afternoon.
A couple things though.... 40k miles and already worn interior items. It would seem it's not been cared for very well.
Also, a non-R 2008 for $23,000 does seem a bit high. Even if the pics have been changed, it's still kind of dingy. That's one reason I much prefer black interiors.

I can't help but be skeptical of 40K miles in 14 years. Claiming 2800 miles per year just makes me uncomfortable. Also an unreasonably dirty car is likely a poorly maintained one, and unlikely to be a garage queen. Also, corner car dealers are generally scumbags.
I watched a car dealer procure a newly issued historical title from a state the car had never been in. Carfax isn't infallible.
I'd demand the maintenance records (only way to prove mileage) or walk.
IMHO.

I never saw those pictures, just what’s posted up now and still stand by what I said.
That interior is still filthy after a cleaning. It looks like the owner never put the top up when it rained. The driver bolster looks like crap too. It's over priced. The worldwide Chip Short is now a Chip surplus and new cars are going to be flooding the lots. Overpriced used cars are dropping at the rate of about 1/2% a month and that will speed up imo. Walk away. There are plenty of others for sale. Never buy the car or your dreams and bring it home thinking she's perfect, if only....
Nothing about the 08 that is worrisome beyond normal wear and tear. You'll want to focus on maintenance history, control arms, bushes are not cheap if you don't DIY. 07-09 are great mechanically. The 07 has the antenna from 1986. The 09 has a few cosmetic options on the touchscreen (additional wallpapers, switch between green color scheme or blue)
