My Volvo package arrived today. Popped the new disc in & went through about 8 mins of update (must not have had the software updated before). The command response time is noticably quicker.

One dissapointment though, I now only have a Yank voice.....quess I'll have to give hera new name now. Sad

I tried that and can select the UK option but still get no voice there. It works fine in US English so maybe it is just an issue with NA vehicle files.

Whoa! Guess I’ll hold off on loading that disc until I read otherwise. Don’t want to lose the British babe.

Hmmm, don't know if it was the update or map disc itself. I can live with the US voice though.....just not quite as sexy.

My wife won't get to do her usual chuckle as I try to mimic the accent.

Hmmm, to be honest I never use the voice guidance so it wasn't something I even thought about.

But I've just gone and checked mine, the English is actually with an Aussie accent, the US English is with an American accent, and I've got all the other languages as well, German, French, etc, it speaks those languages too.

But no British English, I've got an Aussie instead.

Just a thought, since the software update is on Disk A, maybe you need that disk to select a language, then use Disk B for the map.

I'll try disc B too but I'm pretty sure it is the update that determined language.

Hey Cambo, I'll trade a "midwestern" US voice for OZ any day!

Having a “midwestern” US ear, I probably couldn’t tell the difference between an Aussie and British babe’s voice, so I’ll go for it over the weekend. But you think it’s British, while Cambo votes Aussie?

How strange is that? I just checked and still I only have US voice in addition to French and Spanish. I tried switching disc but it made no difference. It would be interesting to understand why Ralphwg still has all of the voices indicated on the screen.

We're off on a trip for a week but I plan to begin investigating when we return.

They might just be the voices in Ralph's head

Don't know why other than I went to a Volvo dealer and got the Nav Discs directly from them after overpaying.

Ralphwg,
Are you referring to getting the discs @ a Volvo dealership rather than a Volvo online supplier or in comparison to Jaguar update cost?

I'm planning to put the upgrade on my wish list, so I want to get it correct when I provide the info to my family.

Thanks much,
wrair

I would love one with a slight lisp or stutter.

Just placed my order as well. I don't often use the GPS, but when I do I prefer to have the vehicle GPS vs. using my phone, which I prefer to keep open and available. I've had situations whilst traveling where inbound phone calls arrived at critical navigation junctions, and anything I can do to avoid that kerfuffle is a good thing.

Also, fingers crossed for the British gal audio files.

I tried to load the new disc today and the screen keeps telling me there's no disc installed. Then I tried reloading the old disc. Same message on screen. It's as if the disc is not loading. Any suggestions on a fix? Thanks in advance.

Are you inserting the disk into the Entertainment Disk slot? If so, that's NOT the right spot. The NAV disk goes into the NAV module inside the boot.
In the convertible (you don't state which year or model you have), there is a black rectangle plastic plug you can remove from behind the rear right seat, accessed through the trunk. In the coupe, I have no idea.
