P0054
Morning folks,
Had this EML come up yesterday on my 5.0 XKR, says Heater Resistance Bank 1 Sensor 2, car is running a bit rough on more than 50% throttle, which sensor is it? As google is telling me downstream and upstream. So, I'm a bit confused!
Anyway to check the Cat? (it's a viezu own sports cat)

Bank 1 = the bank with cylinder 1 in it, which is the drivers side on a RHD car.
Sensor 2 = the downstream sensor, past the cat.
The heaters in the O2 sensors can crap out, happens all the time, not just with Jags.
A faulty O2 sensor heater is not going to make an engine run rough after the engine itself is warm.
There's too many possibilities to just guess why it's running rough, unless you have misfires, pinking noises or hesitation/bucking under full throttle, I wouldn't normally be suspecting a failed cat.
But diagnosis via internet is not always precise so... maybe?

I was driving put my foot down and a lot of black smoke with the engine code, so the engine was already warm, so why would it be looking at the that sensor if it was warm? Low rpm it drives fine-ish, more throttle and it just feels down on power. I cleared the code and it came back this morning
The PCM monitors the O2 sensor heater circuits all the time, regardless of if the sensors are already warmed up or not.

It only did the black smoke when i put my foot down and the EML came on, hasn't done it since. I thought there was a misfire but it didn't throw that code up so am a bit confused what to look for! Just a bit out of the blue. Might check spark plugs first and go from there
When i searched the fault code it came up with pre cat fault.

So i'm a bit confused. I can't find this code on the service manual of our cars, only the F Type, which has 3 oxygen sensors

Whoever wrote that article must have been high. They mention the 2nd sensor is upstream, pre-cat. Then they mention it is downstream.
Per Cambo's, Sensor 2 is past the cat, downstream.
A visual inspection of the wires, harnesses, and connectors for that O2 sensor should be done. Look for chafing, exposed wire, corrosion, etc...
If no visual damage is found, you can swap the 2 downstream sensors from bank to bank and see if the code stays in Bank 1 or moves to Bank 2.
