Parking Brake Fault (yes, again)
Hi Folks - I'm looking for some advice on the dreaded "Parking Break Fault" error message (on my '08 XKR). I have read the other posts on this topic but haven't had any luck just yet. Here is what I've done or evaluated.
1. I've tried recalibrating the parking brake through both the method mentioned in the post below and by pulling the negative battery cable. Each time I've done this the problem returns after recalibrating. Link: http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj...-fault-139538/
2. I've replaced the the rear brakes pads with new ones (the rotors are in excellent condition). Again, after re-calibrating the error returns.
3. There are no visible issues with the system and the parking brake is not hung up.
4. The battery is less than a year old (changed in late 2020) and there are no signs of voltage irregularities
Any suggestions on diagnostic tests I can perform to narrow the problem? Thanks!

I think you'll need a cheap (all things relative) all purpose reader like Foxwell or icarsoft to read non engine codes.
Also, what is the battery voltage? I know I know and I read what you wrote. Check the voltage in the morning at the battery, not an OBD II reader. 12.6 volts minimum.
Alternatively, put a 10 amp charger on it, not a maintainer, or drive it to an auto parts stare and they will load test it at no cost.
Start with the easy stuff.

You're not looking for an OBD2 code - see the other posts.

The battery with the car off was 12.7, with the engine running it was 14.2.

Same here. I could live with the dashboard msg, but now I'm at the point where it won't even retract after a battery reset.
And now I can't drive it without the dam sounder going off the whole time because it thinks the parking brake is engaged!!
I have an appointment with the dealer next week. We will see what they say, but most likely like Jahummer said, failed actuator.
A better code scanner will gives codes like C1801, which is what I'm getting.
You can check this bulletin too:

I ordered a 'better' scanner this weekend which should arrive tomorrow. So I'll likely narrow this problem further in the next couple days. I'm not looking forward to trying to replace the actuator if it ends up there :-(
Seems to be the Hall Effect Sensor. So based on the diagnostics bulletin it’s either a wiring problem or the actuator needs replaced.
