Default Picked up a GT!

Hi all.
I was originally thinking of an F-ype SVR, but wound up entering the JLR family with a lightly used XKR-S GT instead!

I have a question for those who may know:
how does the exhaust differ from the standard car? Mine is UK spec. I've seen it mentioned here that the UK spec exhaust is quite different from the XKR-S, but the US version not so much?

Cheers!

There may be tech guides etc in the forum / in the large file area / on JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

This might help? http://www.zercustoms.com/pdf/Jaguar...ifications.pdf

Some info here if it's any use http://media.jaguar.com/news/2013/03...eiled-new-york

I don't know about this site... Jaguar XKR-S GT DIY Guides

That'll be hard for a while, as it's this one:
Jaguar XKR-S GT | The Octane Collection

I live in Japan, it's in the UK, and it won't be over here with me for a good couple of months...!

The rear muffler is unique to the GT but as too what makes it different to the regular XKR-S is not detailed anywhere I found.

If I had to guess, it would probably be internally the same as the F-Type V8 ones, since so many things were transferred from the F-Type to the GT.

Sounds likely!
Yeah, I heard in another thread (can't remember which one) that the muffler is changed in both regions (probably why it sounds different than the xkr-s), but that in the UK spec there was more? Maybe not?

The UK GT's came with the full-on race seats, racing harness', roll cage and the seat control panels in the doors blanked off, whereas the USA cars came with normal R-S type seats, seatbelts and no cage (so regular seat controls in the doors), that's the only market differences so far as I know, apart from LHD and RHD of course.

In the parts catalogue there is a different rear muffler listed for the GT, but the rest of the exhaust is the same as the R-S.

That black GT is absolutely gorgeous, congratulations man!

It's the only black one made, AFAIK.

I should be picking that guy up in the next couple of weeks locally, so that'll tide me over! I don't have the guts to track that though...

So how does Japan deal with the governmental stuff on imported vehicles? I always read that they were pretty strict with what could be on the roads.

Um, I wouldn't say that really, at least not compared to Australia, where I'm from.
There are some fairly annoying things (you can't register a car until you can PROVE you have a registered parking spot for example) but you can drive LHD or RHD, very loose on mods in general (except tinted front windows-forget about it!)...and registration is probably a bit expensive (and gets more so as a car ages) but it's never really out of hand.

There are no special costs or taxes associated with importing a car yourself though.
In Australia, I wouldn't be able to import the car full stop, as it's a variant of a model sold domestically. I COULD bring it in as personal property, but I'd have to prove that I lived with it for 12 months over seas first, and even then I'd pay nearly the car's value in taxes.

The SLR I couldn't bring in because it's LHD, the end.

Lovely (both of them). What part of Japan do you live? My family usually visit at least once a year for a few weeks, just love it there.

Mine looks rather boring compaired. Got my lowering springs to install and it will only get prettier in my possesion!:-)

There is a Swedish saying: Den som väntar på något gott, väntar aldrig för länge!:-)

I usually change the aldrig to alltid!:-D

UPDATE:

The car has now had a pre-shipping once-over. The only thing noticed was this crack. Looks like the splitter has had a jolt at some point and parted (not such a worry) and that this has caused a bend/warp/tear in that bit above?

Looks like that bit is shared with the XKR-S anyway, so shouldn't be too hard to source? I remember hearing that you can't actually get replacement splitters for the GT anymore...

Anyone on here in particular I should speak to for a price?

Cheers!

Oh dear....

The GT front splitter is all one piece...

Picked up a GT!-pw13001.jpg

p/n C2P2539, retails for £5,441.72 plus VAT

I guess a repair by someone good with carbon fibre would be cheaper...
