1st dumb question for Nov 2020. Trying to change the bulb over my rear license plate but it won't release from the socket/fixture. I twist about a half turn and it comes out just a bit, but no further. Don't want to use force and brake the fixture (probably cost 1000 bucks to replace) so finally asking for help. I'm sure it's something simple. Thanks. (2010 XKR).
Well after a little wd40 and time, a bit stronger tug got them out. Seems like a lot of heat is going on with these 194 bulbs. Maybe that's what held them in so tight. Anyway all is good now. Switched the 194s out for these LEDs on Amazon, they look good but time will tell if the change is good. Think I'll add just a touch of silicone to the O rings on install. Thanks for all the feedback.
Don,
Did you see how much heat the led's generated by leaving them on for a bit before you buttoned her back up? The 194's generate a bunch of heat for their size. Some led's aren't much better.
Costs about a buck anna half for enough grease to do probably...... eight? bulbs sufficiently. It keeps corrosion from messing stuff up, therefore keeping installation and removal easy-peasey.
The store near me gives a pouch away with all bulb purchases, and one pouch usually lasts me quite awhile.
I also have a small can of Dielectric Grease somewhere.
