Default Rear seat delete

Came across this thread and shows how skilfull some members are at designs , love this one, another great use for the non practical rear seats, from storage to roll bars to sound systems. Thought is was all tailored to the old xk8 till i got to the end of the thread and saw member UsmaXKR2010's post, anyone else tailored the rear of their car.

I'll weigh in, as I've been contemplating a design originally fabricated by Sherbercars. I have a number of photos of his design that, I think, has a nice clean factory look.
"Bernie" I hope you don't mind I post.....

This looks pretty clean and would be nice to get in kit form. Any thoughts of making it up and what kind of cost would it be.

Hi,
At the moment, have been gathering thoughts on materials for the hard parts, that is, for the frame, upholstering materials, top finish luggage strips etc.
Will probably go with aluminum square stock, to keep the weight low. Will designed to be removable on the chance the new buyer has rear passengers with extremely short torsos LOL!
Thanks to Sherbercars for this pic....

Me, I think the rear seat delete is weird looking and doesn't really add much by way of utility. They seem so........ stark and trailery compared to the rest of the interior. Even when really well done, it seems to lack the panache and "I've Arrived" sort of quality that should be in this fantastic GT car.
Sort of like towing a pickup bed trailer with a Ferrari.

Why is that image so vivid in my mind?
Anyway, to each their own. Modding is part of the fun of ownership.
I'm sure I'll be poo-pooed whenever I get around to finishing my 'cat tail' hitch mount (so I can carry a bike rack when my wife and I head off to some trail, and travel there in style).
But you know what? I don't care, I'm doing it for my enjoyment and benefit.

Oh dear, this is sad, and definitely shortsighted. What if her friend also wants to tag along.

I won't be 'deleting' my rear seat, just commenting on modding in general, to each their own.
My wife rode in the rear seat once (and only once), for 2.5 hours (of which she said the first 20 minutes were 'tolerable').
So no 'friend' will be submitted to that torture.

I wonder how it would look if you just formed carpet on the floor and back. No metal frame.
