Default Service required light

Good evening... my service light comes on when I first start my XKR. It goes out after about a few seconds but have always wondered if this is normal.

Is it?

Yes, it means SERVICE YOUR VEHICLE.
After you service your vehicle, reset the reminder.

I did at the Jaguar dealer ALREADY. I was asking why it would still be on for that short of period of time on the start up.

Dunno man, mine comes back every one-year later.

Jim,

The SERVICE REQUIRED indicator is not doing any diagnostics other than a calculation of time or miles elapsed since the last service or more accurately, since the indicator was last reset. Just reset it:

No scantool or diagnostics required. Simply follow the sequence shown.

Stuart,

We already have a linked thread on this topic in the XK/XKR - 'How To' / DIY Repair & Maintenance "sticky":

I'd forgotten that myself until I went to "sticky" this one!

Graham,

Sorry to tell you, but that's the first sign. Ask me how I know.
That's why I didn't look there!
