Default Supercharger pulley 08 XKR 1.5lb and no tune users please chime in

I have searched the forums but cant find enough info to decide if a 1.5lb pulley without a tune worth the hassle, reliability sacrifice vs hp gain. Hoping for a modest low end power gain without much reliability sacrifice. Contemplating EuroToys Pulley. I do not want to go with higher boost pulley for reliability issues.

Should have no impact on reliability and you will see low end torque gains right up until the ECU cuts the boost which is why a re map is so helpful.

I had the 1.5lb pulley put on my '07 XKR about a year ago. The car has had nothing else done to it and the difference is noticeable. The pickup from low revs is much better but the main issue I have now is that the right rear wheel is much more prone to wheel spinning so I don't think that it is worth doing anything else to the car without fitting a limited slip diff.

What pulley did you get? install it yourself?
Im contemplating either Eurotoys 1.5lb or Mina galery aluminum pulley but i think mina only has 2lb no 1.5

I bought mine from PowerHouse in the UK and got the guy who service my car to install it.

I think this is the one:

You need a pulley puller, Eurotoys has one for rent

Did you watch the video I posted above? The hood does not need to be removed, though you could if you wanted to. Obviously you have to remove the belt. As you can see in the video, the easiest way is to use the puller to remove the pulley, heat up the new pulley so it expands and slides on more easily, use welding gloves to put it on, let it cool and replace the belt and you are done!

It is that simple when you use the puller. The only other way is to cut it off, but that is a lot of work and you risk damaging the supercharger.

Thanks
although the video shows a car with a different engine configuration, intake and cooling piping is different on the XKR and Im still not sure how to get around the hood without taking it off, its just not very accessible there

They are all basically the same. I did mine with no issues and did not remove the hood. It is as easy as I described above when you have the puller and plenty of room to do it. If you are not comfortable doing it your self, I'd recommend finding a reputable mechanic or service center to do it for you.

Jahammer is it needed to remove piping and drain coolant ? it looks like pulley is accessible without the need to remove them

If you have the 4.2, then no, the pulley should be in plain view.
