Default Touch screen has stopped booting up

My 2007 xk convertible touch screen has stopped booting up and is stuck on the jaguar logo.
The repair shop told me that it would cost over $1500 to repair it.
Is there any way to fix it myself?

How long has it been like that?
make certain the battery is in top condition with a resting 12.6v.
Try a hard reset.
My 2008 has this occur now and then.
Mine generally resolves after several short drives.

Thank you WJ
It stopped working about 2 weeks ago. I drove it for about 2 hours with this condition, but there was no improvement.

Hard reboot, disconnect battery cables for a while then reconnect, or try pulling fuses. Quite a few threads on these forums regarding TSD failure.

Thank you, Jahummer
What kind of operation does the hard reboot method refer to?
I searched, but I couldn't find it.

it means the MOST bus crashed. it can be the screen or anything else in the ring

buy a fiber optic go find the fault. bluetooth modules are the worst offenders

The little bluetooth module that is hard to find and runs $300 unless you want a Volvo version but lose functionality?

Thank you ,xalty
I'm checking the battery at the car factory right now. If there is no problem, I will look for another factor that you told me.

Those would do nothing to have access to any of the Jaguar factory controls and settings. No more changing options, no heated nor cooled seats or steering wheel, no changing mirror settings or lighting options. No more a lot of other things.

The andriod one I put in mine, al lthe controls work, it integrates with the steering whell controls, for phone volume etc, heated seats work ( I don't have cooling ones) and all my air con controls heated screen etc works. I have nothad to program anything or do fancy wiring/soldering. All I had to do was unplug the old Jag unit as mine had the infamous 'Palmera error' on boot up. To replace it would ahve been £500 second hand, so hence looking at replacements, now I have car, play, upto date navigation and full 360 degree camera setup which is great for parking as I can see the nose and tail. I also think it refreshes the interior, mines l;ikely older being an 08.

Could be worth explorering as you could spend alot to replace it for somethign whihc honestly is dated technology and will likey die again. You can then just keep the old unit in case you decide to sell and can open up to the purists.

Is that the Mr12Volt thing? That also uses the stock Jag screen that's busted in the OPs car.
If not, what the heck is it?

there is a thread on it here is you search for Tesla style head unit but its like this one:

Jaguar XK/XKR (07-15) Android 9 LCD 12.1? Touch Screen Stereo Upgrade (Wood Effect) ? Banshee Motorsport

I bought mine I think via Aliexpress came from china like this:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...Cquery_from%3A

so no compliacted stuff with Mr 12volt, this repalces the existing unit all together depending on year mins an 08 car so it replaced the sceeen, stero, air con controls etc

Yeah, those still don't access the settings for Jaguars, although they do allow seat heat and cool in some circumstances. That's the main reason I won't get one of those, instead I'll get the Mr12Volt system. A person can't even clear the between-the-gauges warnings with that screen. That'd drive me batshit crazy.
The large screens DO alleviate the Broken Stock Screen though, and may be the final word when the used replacements run out.

Not sure if this TSB is relevant, but might be worth checking:

THIS

You have several modules that use the fiber optic ring. If one fails or is failing, it's trying to reboot so you have a frozen screen. Search this forum for "fiber optic bypass loop" Cost about $8 us and a cheap DIY test.
