You will probably get a better response by posting your question in this section. We only know about the first generation XKR here. Touch screens are way too modern for us

I have the 08 XK Convertible and have the same problem. No amount of adjustment makes the screen any easier to see with the top down and under bright sun. The screen is fine under any other condition and to be really fair, this problem is not unique to Jaguar. I used to use a Garmin GPS in my old Pontiac convertible and had the same problem. I just do not believe the current active matrix technology in LCD panels is quite up to taking on blazing sun shining right on it...

My 08 is the same, as is the LCD screen on my 07 Z06, but GM repeates most of the data in the HUD which has to be one of the best automotive features ever designed/installed on a car.

When the XK 150 premiered it was a not uncommon complaint in the automotive press.

I have an '07 XK coupe and pale coloration is a problem during the day, especially if the sun's reflected. A reflective ivory or caramel colored interior may also contribute to the problem.

Have you tried changing the background color of the LCD. There are two different colors. I have an 09 convertible and while it might get a little faint, there is never a time I can't see the text/display. Mine is set with the green coloring.

How do you change the color scheme?

On the display, select Vehicle and on next screen select System Settings. Press the down arrow that appears at the bottom center left of the next screen. You should see two choices - a green-based and a blue-based display.

Hope this helps!

This must be a '09+ or '09 Portfolio+ option. Don't have the blue-base option in my '08 system settings. BTW...if you choose blue-base does your tach/speedo lights turn white or blue or is it still green....just curious.
