Does anyone put up or down their roof when moving? just read that the new vantage can do it up to 35 mph. I never do only when parked

Don't do it! The adhesive that bonds the rear glass to the convertible top deteriorates over time, and the air pressure against the rear glass will eventually cause it to separate from the convertible top. It's a common problem.

I often put the top up when returning home on the final road to the driveway. We live on a mountain with about 1/8 mile of gravel road so I go faster than 10mph anyway. I might also do the same while in a parking lot.......you know, just to rub it in my brother who has a 650i and has to have his in park to cycle the roof.

Sometimes, but mostly when about to park (close) or just taking off (open). I rarely get above 5 mph.
Also, the way the pop opens/closes, the rear window section is up off the body for a good long time, so there isn't as much wind pressure as there otherwise would be. The roof tonneau probably gets a good amount of pressure though.

In the owner's handbook it says that you can raise and lower the top while moving at speeds up to 18 mph. If you have the Jsagwrangler remote top accessory the interlock that stops the top from operating above 18mph is disabled. On occasion I will put the top or down while moving, but not very often.

Hmmm... Maybe Steve had an update for that, as mine won’t open if I’m doing more than 10-15 mph.

I used to do it while entering the golf club parking lot and also when I left. Maybe 5-10 MPH and didn't have a problem.

Why would you want to do that, even if you could? It's not good for your top and the rear window.

It would be nice to open when driving through town (25 mph) without slowing to a crawl, or more importantly closing it when it starts to rain.

I've followed the thread and understand your question BUT cannot comprehend the thread title "For the very crowd". Please explain "very" as an adjective to "crowd" because it has this Englishman totally flummoxed.

I'm posting to a forum - not solving a cryptic crossword.

I still haven't discovered how to put my roof down. It's proving very difficult.
