Default ‘97 xk8 air filter

What would be general consensus on replacement air filters in xk8? I’m looking at Amazon and there are a lot of choices . Looked at another site which offered a gold-plated one(apparently) for $125 and promised amazing results. Is there a brand and a price point that makes sense?

thanks!

Usually the original is cheaper and gives better airflow than all the K &N and other after market crap.

I have been running standard Purolator air filters in all of our vehicles for decades. Never had an issue with one - just be sure to change it on the proper schedule. The typical cost for it is $20 to $25 depending upon where I source it and whether or not there is a sale on at the time....

Cindy,
Don't go and buy one. I have 3 or 4 in my shop. When I see a sale I stock up. I have to see what I paid for it but can proably sell it to you for about $20. Of course it will cost you $100 for installation. ( Just kidding). Will have to see when I have a free weekend for you to come over. I'm a diesel mechanic today.

From my experience, your labor charge is a bargain! LOL! There’s quite a wide range of opinion on which filters are best...subjective. Changing the filter regularly is always smart. Once I know the brands that work best, I know I will stock up as well.. .and I’ll be glad to get hands on.
