Default 05 XK8 Memory Operation

First I guess would be to ask, is the seat setting suspose to move to your setting once the key is inserted.

On my XJ8L and all other cars I've owned with memory settings, the seat and steering and other things set to memory, move together. On this Conv. once inside the car, the only way to get everything to work together is to push one of the buttons on the door memory pad. The steering up and down and in and out move when the key is inserted.

I've used the book over and over to set everything, but only the steering wheel funtions. The main reason about the seat is I would love for the seat to move to the rear along with the steering up and in when the key is removed. The seat moving backwards would really help when getting out of the car.

Driver seat exit mode is an XJ function. Jaguar must assume XK8/XKR drivers are more athletic and nimble!

If your 05 XK8 has the same memory pack as my 2001 XKR then 1 option would be for you to program the memory so the seat was fully back in (say) mem 2 and your optimum position (along with all your other settings on (say) mem 1. Then when you park you could hit mem 2 for the seat to go back - the steering wheel would retract when key was removed. On re entering hit mem 1 to restore your preferred positions.

Not tried it but seems a plan

Well--------If being [nimble and athletic] was Jaguar's plan, they just shot me in the foot. My nimble and athletic modes left long ago, so I guess I'll just have to continue the grunts and roll out like all the other non-nimble and athletic guys around.......

I was just browsing the options with the dealer tool (IDS) and it appears that automatic movement of the seat is a settable option.

A Jaguar repair shop should be able to enable it for you.

Steve, where might I find a list of set able options by the dealer. I'd like to see what I'm missing out on.

Get IDS (or other dealer tool), browse. I don't think there's any other way.
