100k miles salability ? Advice desired
I have had my mechanically well maintained but average appearance (paint, driver leather) XKR coupe up for sale since it hit 96000 miles since I figured after 100,000 miles it would become very difficult to sell, and I miss having a convertible (but need a small back seat). However, since Spring 2014 I have noticed KBB value drop from $10,000 to $8,000, and offers have been lowered and slow altogether.
My finances are not strong enough to simply shrug these things off as a mere annoyance.
Perhaps I should just keep driving the car (it's my daily) and accept that it is what it is and that another 2-3 years of driving it won't have the value get even worse?

I have 150,000 miles on my 2002 XKR, runs great, looks better, paid about $15000 about 5 years ago for a near perfect car with 62000 miles on it at the time. It's given me 90,000 miles of pleasure, looks better now than when I got it, and what could I hope to get for it if I sold it, maybe $9-10K? What could I get that would give me that much pleasure for so little money? Why not keep it and schedule (as your finances allow) upgrades that will turn it into the car you'd want, new paint, power upgrades, new seat covers... it will be far less expensive than a new replacement car, and you'll be upgrading a bonafide classic.

I agree T Berg says it all - there is no better car out there for the money. I think we should 'all' agree to stick 25% on the asking price and start the value rising ball rolling Give your car a good going over mechanically and start on the little repairs to the seat, body - bit at a time.

If you were selling a Kia, Chevy, or a Honda, that 100,000 mile mark would be important, but as you've seen it's not a huge factor with these. I paid $10,000 for my 2000 XKR vert just over two years ago. I thought it was a good deal at 95,000 miles. Now it has 121,000, and that would still be a good deal, maybe. But I love driving it. People not looking to buy one know only that it's a beautiful, expensive, new car. Those looking to buy one are likely looking for a deal. If yours were an investment, oops. You'll have to hold it for a while. Not a bad thing. If you're just lucky enough to be driving a great car, don't worry about the value unless you're selling it.
