Default 1998 XK8 Fender badge light up?

Should the Jaguar Fender badge on my 1998 XK8 light up? I see wires go to it and its clipped on. Can i buy the clip separately, as one is missing. Do they light up with indicator on? Sorry, I am kinda new to these car's, yet.

They can and I think it would be nice. Mine were in pretty rough shape when I got the car. Replaced them with turn signal fixtures and a little rewiring. I've never seen what they look like lit,,, but would like to.

I don't think they can. In other markets that is a side indicator, but on your car it looks like the wiring for an indicator just clips onto the back of the badge to keep it in check. There is no bulb or bulbholder, nor is there any room for them. Plus there is nowhere on that badge for light to actually get through.

Montana,

I'm not 100% sure on the 1998 but most every XK8 or XKR was wired for Side Blinkers even though the early ones had the Leaper in the Blinker Hole back by the Door....The thing to do is slide the Leaper back or forward until it comes out and reach back in the Fender Well and there is a connector for the Blinker light. All you have to do is buy a Blinker Light and Bulb then hook it up!

Billy, I *think* that for some reason the wiring for the side repeater is present only on one side on the early US cars?
Must be possible to retro-fit as some have done it, apparently.

Mine work as turn signals. Wether original or not that's what they do. TM

jaguar used side repeater blanking plates since the xj6 series 1 and stopped with the xj40.

jaguar north america flip flopped around and finally stopped using them for good when the x308 left production in 02.

Ok, spoke with the owner before me and she told me without me asking the that fender emblems light up when you have the turn signal on, and she didn't know that for years. So, I guess I will have to try it. I had no clue, really.

Unplug the wiring - is there a bulbholder in there?

it’s a blank ev1 connector with no pins

it’s just there to stop the harness from flopping around
