Default 2,600 mile road trip report!

Yup, from Denver to Seattle and back, some 44 hours of driving within a week. I was so worried that something would break, leak, or cause the XKR to go into limp mode. NOTHING HAPPENED! In fact, the first day from Denver to Boise, I averaged 77 MPH and an astonishing 27 MPG. The trip back, I went through Montana, and was able to set the adaptive cruise control to 100 mph in parts, and took it up to 135 to see how it would handle. Again, no issues, not a single code, simply flawless.

Also, of note, the longest single stretch was from Seattle to Sheridan, Wyoming, right at 1,000 miles and 13.5 hours straight, only stopping for gas. Part was top down, part up with AC on, and again, not a single issue.

That said, in the past year I have had to put thousands into the car, short list with the latest fixes first:

Oil cooler and hoses replaced (leaking)
Transmission leak fixed, transmission flushed
Brake line flush
Full service including pollen filter
Full pads and rotors
Brake switch replaced (ACC was not working)
Rear window regulator replaced
Left rear hub replaced
Motor mounts replaced
All front suspension bushings replaced
Windshield washer pump replaced
Door panel repaired

The Black Beauty just turned 67,000 miles.... and I am smiling!

I gotta ask, what was it like at 135mph? I'll never get to try that in NJ, did she lean much in the turns? Was your top Dow or up, how noisy was it? What made you stop there instead of faster?

Top up, AC on, long straight, so no idea on the turns. The aerodynamics really pushed this beast down, it felt really flat, solid, like it was maybe even liking stretching its legs. Noise, interesting, it did not sound any noisier than at 100 mph, a bit more whistle from the window seals, but comfortable, could carry on a conversation inside if there was another person in the car. Faster, yes, I thought about seeing what it would top out at - I think 155 is where it is electronically limited - but did not want to push it given the repair history. I kept my eyes on the road, with multiple glances at the temperature gauge, and of course the dash, waiting for a light to come on.

Always good to hear about an uneventful trip.

These cars really do like to be driven.

That's great weeb,
My experience is similar to yours. First year fix list was quite long but since then not much other that regular maintenance.

I found high speed runs are best with the top up. Otherwise you lose your hat. I lost 2 so far
