2000 xk8 trunk (boot) will not open
Just got this 2000 xk8. Problem is a dead battery. I added power through the hood at the fuse box terminal. Trunk is stuck shut. Key will not open and looks like it's stuck in Valet mode. Tried to unlock the door with the black key but no luck. I do not have a remote for this car. After reading all I can I have been not able to come up with any solution. If anybody can help would be greatly appreciated.
It sounds as if you can open and close the doors with the black key? If you fully charge the battery through the fuse box terminals, can you start the engine with the black key? Do not try and jump start the car using those terminals.
Once the battery is fully charged enough to start the engine, or just reasonably well charged, can you open the trunk with the dashboard switch? If you can, you can then lubricate the lock mechanism from inside (I assume that you tried spraying some oil into the keyhole from the outside?) and get the black key working in the trunk keyhole.

It’s not hard to miss the boot switch and press the valet switch by mistake. As I recall, valet mode is reset by locking and unlocking the doors with the fob. Since yours is MIA, you may be stuck.
The only way to disable VALET MODE is to have the SCP network modules recognize 'BOOT LID OPEN' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the lid is opened and the latch switch is INOP or disabled, the car will remain in VALET MODE.
The INSTPK needs to display that it is open or the boot lamps need to illuminate.
NO OTHER WAY.(maybe replace the relevant modules?)
No one uses the boot lid key so it usually is seized with corrosion or debris buildup.
Use the key a few times a year to prevent this failure.
I had to work for almost half an hour the free up a boot lid lock with PB Blaster/Kroil/Liquid Wrench a little at a time.
I could feel it move little-by-little and finally free.
Pretty much no sympathy for people that neglect the locks and then wonder why they won't work.(duh)

Am I understanding this correctly? It will not come out of valet mode if the trunk is not open and the trunk will not open in valet mode. Is there something wrong with this logic? So how to resolve this?

What happens when you try this? Can you feel any movement?
