Default 2000 xkr headlight replacement

I've been searching online for replacement bulbs, but I do not know what the original bulb is and I would like a brighter bulb.
Does anyone have a link to recommend a site for the original or suggested replacement brighter bulb?

Thanks

I went with a cheap eBay HID kit and it was a night and day difference. I could actually see when I was driving! Not a hard install, just a little drilling and fitting.

Any decent H1 HID retrofit kit will work. After trying several different H1 lamps, (which really didn't make any difference), I added a 55w, 6000K kit to my 2005 XK8 and am very happy. I researched the differences between HID and LED before making my choice. IMHO, LED is great for making your car be seen by oncoming drivers, but HID helps you see down the road better. Make sense?

The bulb chart is in the Vehicle Care Handbook:

I Cannot find the exact kit I used, it was a few years back but any H1 HID conversion will do. I think I paid about $35 so not a lot of $$ at all.

+1 on HID (Xenon) upgrade, in fact I posted a link to my amazon purchase. Costs about $50.

Redline's note reminded me of a very important point. He references 6000k HID bulbs, I agree.

I recently purchased and installed fog light upgrades, also HID, but I clicked on the 10,000k bulbs.

Big mistake - higher number does not mean brighter light! In fact it is less bright, but a blue color tinged light.

Look for my review in a couple of days. I just received the 6000k bulbs and will put them in later today.

It is such a large difference I wanted to highlight this choice 6000k vs. 10,000k.

Ok just looked up the link: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ighlight=Xenon

I just realized this link discusses 4300k, I mentioned 6000k above. I will sort this out prior to posting my review. Just don't buy the 10k, sorry for the equivocal info. From my experience select a white color bulb, not the stylish colored ones for best illumination.

John

I've carried this Jaguar Bulb Kit for many years.

We make regular trips to Continental Europe and French motoring regulations require you to carry spare bulbs in the vehicle. I found this the easiest way to comply.
