Just looking at my pics of my 97 XK8 it had a cover over the ABS unit in the engine bay, my 03 does not, should it?

 

Yes it should. The part number is NJE3978AC. If you search by part number and the word xk8 on ebay right now, there are several for sale.

That cover was only fitted to the 1997 cars. If you get the cover you will also need the bracket that it sl1des into as well. I went thru this a few years ago when I wanted to add the cover.

I will have to respectfully disagree that it was only fitted to the 1997 cars. I have personally seen it on all years of the XK8. Go to google images & type in "xk8 engine" in the search. Up will come many photos from all years & I do not see one without the cover.

 

I will have to disagree with your "disagreement". I have never seen, for instance, a 2000 MY with the cover.

 

Are you guys talking about this cover? This is what came up on ebay with the part number above. If this is it, yes my 03 has these on both side.

 

I googled my 2003 Jag XK8 Motor pics, non had a cover on the ABS.

 

The ABS on my 2001 is naked!

 

OK I looked up where the ABS unit is and mines naked tooooooooo

Oops! My bad. I misunderstood what cover the original poster was talking about. For some reason I though he said brake booster cover when he in fact said ABS unit.

The cover I provided the part number for is not what he was talking about at all.

See the attached image. I though he was talking about #3 in the diagram and he in fact was talking about #2. My 97 does have the ABS cover but now I see that some photos of other years show that it is not there.
