2003 xkr heater issue
hello everyone this is my first time so please ignore my ignorance
the heater has stopped working on my 2003 xkr and rear de mister after having some recent work service etc recently. The heater and heated rear window will start to work after longer motorway journeys of around 20 mins and then will stop after the engine has cooled down again!! any thoughts please

Too many thoughts. The first is that the heater pump is not working properly, or maybe the valve is not opening all the way. Or it could be the heater core is plugged. If you use the search function you will find many threads on the subject.

Well, I can tell you that it takes quite a bit longer for hot air to come out of the vents in my Jag than in any other car that I have owned and I have to turn it all the way up to about 80 degrees to get it to come out hot at first. It is not my daily driver and I live in Louisiana where it does not get very cold very often so it is not a big bother for me, but if I lived in a cold climate and had to drive it every day, it would be annoying.

Here is a test for the heater pump, once you have been driving round for a while and the heater is working, pull over but keep the engine running. Now feel the temp of the hot air with a thermometer or just your hand, if it starts to drop down to the ambient outside temp after a couple of minutes, then its probably your heater pump.
Three options,
Live with it, I did for a 18 months.
Fix it yourself, probably about 8 to 10 hours of work (the first time) and a few special tools needed.
Get the garage to fix, you will be looking at 6 hours of labour plus parts, now that will be expensive at my local Jag garage which charges £170 an hour.
