Baxtor,
Strange that you say that! When I drive into the night with my DRLs on, my Head Light's automatically come on! Sometimes even before it gets dark! If I don't have my automatic Lights on; the Warning comes-on telling me that my Lights are Off! In order to save others from both my DRL's and Head Lights at the same time...The DRL's automatically dim when the Head Lights come on.....Actually, it's a pretty darn good system.....

My car came with pretty much every extra available at the time, apart from adaptive cruise control. The phone in the armrest is disconnected as I have a bluetooth kit installed instead, but its a nice bit of old tech to have on display.

FType,
NO! It tells me the:
"Lights are Off" or I think that's what it says.....If not I will let you know! I don't leave my Lights on Automatic when I shut her down at night.....So, every night the warning comes on...sometimes when it's pretty bright out.....I guess that has to do with which direction the sensor is facing...

Mine does this as well. I decided to permanently leave the switch in the Auto position because the Lights are off message was getting annoying when I knew there was enough daylight for me to see clearly.

DTRL's on 2005/2006 XKR
Hello all XK8/XKR Lover's
The 2005/2006 XKR Double grill allows you to place DTRL's in the lower Grill and they sort of complete the Front of the Car....it's also good to have the extra protection! These Lights are on Bright during the Day and when the Low Beams come on at Night the DTRL's automatically dim and stay dim as long as the Lights are on! I don't see how you could put them on any other year as the Grills are not made to accept them...Anyway, I think they look pretty good! What's your opinion? Come on, let me know!! If you would like to know more about them.....Let me know!

Love the front of your car
The DTRLs on your car are lovely. Another safety feature can’t be a bad thing to let other drivers know you’re coming.
You’ll think I’m nuts, but hell we Asians love cartoons, but to me - the main headlamps are eyes, the grill is a toothy grin, and your DTRLs are two fists tucked under the chin like a boxer

regardless of the aesthetic result, the problem is when the LEDs burn out and it will be a huge job to replace them.
I opted for these spotlights with daytime running lights + fog lights (LED) :

(if there is a problem, they are easily replaceable)
In my opinion you should opt to improve the aesthetics only (perhaps by putting 3 lenses, both high beam and low beam and arrows) and change the arrow by putting a dual function lamp (normally white light that activates orange for the arrow) like those that I put in my motorbike:
