Long story short, I got a rebuilt TB from ASI and after 4 times it still eould not work right so I sent it back for a refund. Got a used TB off the bay and it worked for 2 weeks and the PPS went south, so the guy I bought it from sent me another PPS and now the car will not idle, idle goes from 1200 to 1800 rpm's in park and about 1100 - 1600 in drive. TPS shows 0% open in park and 3.5% in drive, I checked for vacuum leaks and found none, even took the TB off and put new sealant around the gasket and no help, also the car is getting an error code (P0507).

Could the used PPS I put on, be causing this problem?

 

Did you do a hard reset after the install?

 

Oh, I HATE it when I forget to do that.

 

Now it is idling at 4,000 rpms and will start climbing after about 15 secs, so I guess when I replaced the connector, I did not get the PPS wires in the correct order or something else is wrong.

 

Any time you unplug/plug a device on you car you should do a hard reset. With that being said if you want to pull a plug you should disconnect the battery first. As for the position of the wires to the plug I will see if I still have it and post it.

 

Use this link and go to Fig 4.1 page 51 to fig 4.3 and see if that helps. I am not sure the color codes are the same on my 1999 so I would suggest that you find another 2001 and ask then to give you the position of the leads into the plug.

I should also mention that you can adjust the idle by adjusting the TPS.

I am a bit concerned I now see 3 complaints with ASI and I am one of them. I have recommended them but feeling like I should hold off with my recommendations.

Thinking the PPS I just got is bad.

 

Have you looked at the plugs to see if they are giving you a tight fit? When you look at the female end of the contacts you can see a spring action that if adjusted properly it will provide a tight fit when receiving the male electrical contact end. It is entirely possible that the connections are loose creating a poor reading

 

I will check that out.

 

That is what it was, one wire on the connector did not go on all the way, car runs fine now.
