Alternator light stays on but chargning over 14 volts at the battery
2003 XKR. The alternator light on the gauges stays on but checking the voltage at the battery show about 14.2 volts.
Any idea of a cause for this.
THanks

When did it start this?
If the ALT was a 'rebuilt', then the regulator was probably NOT a correct DENSO unit but aftermarket.
If it just suddenly appeared, then could be fauty reg assy or faulty wiring/connection?(rodent chewing?)
Other than that, I have NO IDEA.

This seemingly unrelated thread explains how the battery light works - there is a separate output from the alternator which controls the light:-

Hi
I had the same thing when I changed alternators, there is a 3 wire version and 2 wire version..
I put a 2 wire on and the light stayed on charged ok, but not really correctly..
So I changed to a 3 wire and all was perfect again..
Check the terminals behind the altenator...
Good luck!
