Car Lift for XK8

Car Lift for XK8
Since it seems that I will be spending a fair amount of time under the car, I am considering investing in some kind of home garage car lift/jack. Is there anybody out there with experience of the 5000 lbs Quicklift system??? It looks pretty slick to me and it is available from Costco at a reasonable price. Any feedback is appreciated.

If you're talking about the Kwik-Lift, I have one, but as we've just bought our XK8, haven't had it on there yet.
Used it for MGBs, and it's a great alternative to a regular lift if you don't have proper ceiling height. Very well made and easy to use. You will need a good floor jack that will extend to ~20", and collapse to around 5".

If you have the roof clearance, one that gets the car higher will be much more comfortable. I have a 2-post, but am lucky to have a 12' ceiling. It's worth the extra cost if you have the room. You can sometimes find them used at local auto repair shops that are going our of business ( check CL, etc). And you'll have lots of new friends in the neighborhood!
When I had a lower ceiling in my garage, I previously looked at a the MaxJax. It lifts the car enough that you can sit under the car on a mechanics rolling stool, but still clears a lower ceiling. It can also be moved out of the way if space is a problem. Available thru Home Depot on sale now for $1700. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Dannmar-...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

Nalle - there are a few forum members with that model Quickjack - in the XK/XKR (X-150) and F-Type sections section - I've pasted the link to the search I ran so you can look through the results. I've also added a few other threads discussing lifts I found in our model forum

I have been using my Atlas TD6MR for almost ten years. My garage has a eight ft ceiling and The the lift goes to four ft. ao it's easy to work with a cart. Power is 30 amp 110 and I can even roll it out into the driveway to work on a tall vehicle.

Didn't post any information about Kwik-Lift in my previous post, but no electricity required. No hydraulics. Extremely sturdy construction and fully adjustable. More here: https://www.kwik-lift.com/home-garage-lift-comparison/
No financial interest; just a very pleased user.

I bought a 4-post lift about 12 years ago and I've only got a little under 10 foot ceiling. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of the seven foot 4-post lifts for an ordinary garage if it would physically fit, considering the footprint and garage door configuration (tho there are low headroom tracks and side-mount openers available). Just being able to lift your car to workbench height is a tremendous advantage. That's probably 75% of what I do is brakes and suspension bits. You could get a Jaguar high enough to sit on a little stool to work underneath instead of lying down. And when not in use for repairs, you can raise the ramps all the way and park directly on the floor underneath (at 10' I can stack two Corvettes easily). Just have to make absolutely sure you close the hood or trunk before you raise the car and watch carefully so it doesn't contact the ceiling.
If you do get a 4-post, I highly recommend adding two sliding scissor jacks They are pricey, but well worth it to achieve probably 80% of the work you could do with a 2-post lift (which is really the ideal for repair work if you've got the width and a thick enough slab for the anchor bolts). Forget the cheap jack trays as they are too narrow for the lifting points on most unibody cars (which would appear to be the same drawback with the Kwik-Lift accessory bridge).

Car lifts
Thanks for all the good feedback. Interesting to see that there are some pretty awesome home garage setups. I wish I had the the space, a thick slab floor and lots of ceiling height. However, as usual, I think I am trying to cram 10 lbs in a 5 lbs bag.
For me the end result will be a Quickjack. I can leave it laying centered on the floor under the car and pull it out as needed. It would be great to get a higher lift, but with a folding fishing boat and a sea kayak hanging in the ceiling, I am somewhat limited.

If you do have the ceiling space, I can personally recommend the Bendpak HD-9 lift. I use them to store and double stack a vehicle in place. They are 4 post lifts, but have great safety features as well as the ability to use a bridge jack to turn it into a 2 post lift if needed.
