My CD player has had the E1 error message in the past and I usually just eject and reinsert cartridge and all is well.

Last couple of drives I could not get a CD to load. Display said Loading Disc 1, Disc 2, 3 etc... Then it would say No Disc. After trying to reset the cartridge a couple of times still wouldn't work. Took the cartridge out and gave it a good shot of electric cleaner everywhere I could insert the thin nozzle. Now it's working just fine?

Try it if it happens.
