Coolant leak, fitting at top of octopus hose, one way valve
The leak is at the weird looking fitting on the right hand (looking in from the driver's side) of the top T of the octopus hose. A valley hose connects to the left and the top to the throttle body.
I found a reference to someone replacing just this T and driving 21K miles without a problem.
I'm considering cutting the hose and replacing with a standard T, but I've read something about part of that fitting being a one-way valve.
Can anyone confirm this is true, what is its purpose, and what is the effect of removing it?
My alternative is to replace the octopus hose. Worth the extra trouble?

Not sure we are talking about the same T-fitting, but follow this thread for my adventures with replacing the "T" in that area I broke while fitting another part.
I was able to have a friend make up a new fitting from aluminum, although some members have had luck at the local plumbing supply.
Been running great for over 2000 miles now with no leakage or coolant issues.
Hope this helps.

Tried the Temp Fix but ended up doing the Proper Fix.
I tried to repair just the leaking section with a plastic T fitting, but it began to leak shortly thereafter. The complete octopus replacement is not that difficult and I would suggest you do the same. Get a cable actuated clamp tool to make the job much easier.
