I have had this creak for a few years now (right side of the car), I thought it would go away after I had to remove the soft top lock mechanism while changing the soft top hoses but it remained.
Last week I stripped it down again and greased up everything I could see that moved, no improvement, the creaking was as bad as ever.
Next I ordered up a new soft top top lock, the entire plate and installed it today, guess what, the creak is exactly the same!
Has anyone else had this creak and found a way to fix it?

Getting fed up stripping and reinstalling this.

I had a very annoying creek in that area on a 01 XKR. Finally found it to be windshield moulding rubbing on glass. Put small rubber tape pads beneath mldgs. in affected areas. That was a great day.

Jaguar issued many TSBs for us to try to diagnose customer complaints.

RD,
For the car’s lovely refined ride, creeks/ rattles are a PITA. I have literally spent years removing/repairing all the noises in the cabin, and still haven’t got 100percent there. Close though.
Try to isolate it first. Drive it with the windows down first. Could be window jamming up too far and pushing hard up against the top of the hood seals. And then take alternate bits off - ie strip sun visor then drive, then A pillar, door card etc. Better with a passenger who can help find the noise.
Long shot - did you check known cabin creeks &rattles like the seats?

Thanks for all the suggestions, I tackled it again today but it was none of the above suggestions, but I did finally fix it.
First I stripped off the a pillar covers and cover across the top of the windscreen then went for a drive, no improvement.

Next, the windscreen wipers/scuttle panel...

.....then the windscreen trim. Went for a drive and still no improvement.

Right, on to the soft top lock mechanism, another drive, and no progress, the creak still as bad as ever.

OK, there was not much left up there now, so removed this little bracket, and of course, still no improvement.

So finally, grasping at straws Mrs RD suggested spraying some runny cavity wax into the top box section along the full width of the windscreen (there are lots of access holes) at the pinch welded section that the screen is bonded to. The cavity wax made it right through the pinch weld which is spot welded together. I then left it for 20 minutes and went for a drive.

Next drive, finally the creak had gone, perfect silence, job finally done after 3 years of irritation.

You need to write a TSB.
