Daytime Running Lamps on NON HID/LED cars
There are currently various sales/Ebay listings (Jaguar XK8 - XKR Daytime Running Light Converter) to use the front fog lamps as daytime running lamps on NON HID/LED cars but at £17.99 ($25) for what is just a diode + a length of red and black wire + a bit of heatshrink worth less than £1 ($2) is a little expensive.
If you are interested in saving money and trying this there is a YouTube video from Richard Astley that describes the procedure (about 33 minutes in) among other Lighting Modifications.

interesting, on my 2001 as long as i turn on the "Parking Lights" which are the four corner amber/reds, tail lamp one filament and small white bulbs in the head lamp upper corners; it is possible to turn on the fogs without either the dipped (low) or main (high) beams. It is the first position of the combination switch after "off." This is a very useful feature for me as i drive where there really is a lot of fog and mist. it is good to have just the Hella amber bulbs which i installed in the fogs. BTW, with a blue car, these look really nice.
i made a type of DRL setup when i switched to LEDs in the four corners and in the head lamp upper bulbs. These little white LEDs throw off enough light that they make a nice DRL on their own when i want the extra contrast but do not wish to burn my halogens.

On my ‘02 the first position away from Off will not allow the fogs to be used.
for me, it’s a moot point anyways as far as the front fogs are concerned. The front fog switch has lost its mojo and is dead. I do have a replacement switch panel that includes the fogs, but so far I have not overcome the fear of cracking the shifter bezel which I believe has to come off as part of the switch panel replacement.

I think stumpy you are being incredibly unfair on the guy selling the DRL kit . He has to give 13% to ebay ,then pay the postage and provide a padded bag/write and print instructions as well as source the parts which may not come in single items. Then add the construction time /equipment expenses and he will be lucky to be left with £10. Now add in the A holes who say it does not work and want their money back and you are on to a total looser.
Many people prefer to buy the whole kit ready to fit rather than buy 10 diodes 1m of heat-shrink and 5 m of wire and they probably don't solder.
