Can anyone define specifically what is and what is not an X100 of the XK8 & XKR models please?
I am the process of selling my 2002 XKR 4.0L Supercharged Convertible which I was under the understanding was an X100!
This as it was sold to me as and as the specifications came up on a well known cars for sale web site once the registration and chassis details were added
One of the contacts I received inquired if I was sure it was an X100 which I confirmed as above but the response was apparently "The 100 was only made with anthracite paint (black)" A mine is blue this confused me so any comments or confirmation would be greatly appreciated, many thanks
To my knowledge, the X100 generally refers to our cars. More specifically, it is really the '96 to '02 4.0l models. The 4.2l starting in '03 are technically X103.
Separately, there are a (small) number of special series, including the "XKR 100"
Wikipedia:
Built to celebrate the centenary of Jaguar's founder, 500 'XKR 100' coupés and convertibles combined total were made in 2002.[10] The XKR 100 featured all the available options and an Anthracite paint finish, Recaro seats, 20-inch BBS alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, specific dark wood dashboard panels and GPS.
X100 is the Jaguar Factory Code for the steel bodied two door XK8/XKR models produced from 1996 to 2005. They are ALL X100's regardless of trim or special limited edition specifications. The model was superseded by the X150 aluminium bodied two door model in 2006 which ran until 2014.
Here is the list of factory Codes:
The factory XJ designations first came to public notice with the XJ6 in 1968. The designation simply stood for the prosaic "Experimental Jaguar". When Ford took over, the new model codes subsequently became X numbers.
This is very much appreciated, this has clarified my confusion as I always like to take the benefit of doubt and that I could be mistaken but thank you all for your clarity,
My specification and description can remain 'as is' on my 'For Sale' mission, many thanks
As a product of the 'Southern Rural Educational System"(e.i. Ga. " Go Dawgs"), I have a problem understanding anything more complicated than X100/X150. Let's just keep it simple. There is too much out there that is trying to mess our hobby up with more #'s that we don't need. Simple is good, especially for those of us who are simple minded.......
Hi RoVerto,
Thank you for your comments much appreciated,
Based upon your details my 2002 chassis A28984 confirms the X100 listings
This forum realy is awesome, many thanks
And the answer is: Back in 2002 Jaguar, in honor of Sir William Lyons' 100th Birthday, created from the 2002 XKR the XKR-100 "Limited Edition"! Jaguar sent 100 XKR-100 Coupes and 270 XKR-100 Convertibles to North America. The XKR-100 Coupe's featured 20" BBS "Montreal" Wheels, Brembo Brakes w/Cross drilled Rotors, special Anthracite (Black with Copper, Green & Silver specs) Paint, Charcoal interior with Recaro Seats. The XKR-100 Coupe also had the Handling Package! This is the XKR-100 the Guy was talking about....Your XKR is not a XKR-100 but it is, as all 1997 - 2006 XKR-XK8's an X-100... It's just not a XKR-100..."Limited Edition"...
In other words, The Guy was almost right but still 100% wrong, as he had his X in the right place but had forgotten to add the "KR"!
I searched for several years for the XKR-100 Nose Emblem and the Tread Plates for the Door Stills and finally found the Nose Emblem in Scotland and the Tread Plates in Kalamazoo (No Kidding) and put them on my 2005 XKR Onyx Coupe....In Honor of Sir William Lyons! I have yet to see an original XKR-100.....I wonder if someone on the Forum has one? Probably doesn't know it!

As I said, being just a simple minded Ga.Boy, I will just stick to calling my 2006 XK8 Victory Edition an X100.
And yet no matter what I call it, it never comes, I have to go get it.
I didn't know the 6 Speed came out before the 2003 ....I haven't seen anywhere that tells me the XKR-100 had a 6 Speed.....It appears they have made a mistake on the Ad but it is definitely an XKR-100 Coupe...As you go through the Photos in the Ad you will see the XKR-100 Nose Piece, which is exactly like the one I have and also the Tread Plates are shown.....It also has the Recaro Seats.....Lots of beautiful Photos in that Ad....Certainly is a Beautiful Car...Don't you think?
It looks just like my 2003 XKR Coupe that the Lady Totaled for me!

Hi bcprice36,
Thank you for your detail confirmation and for clarity on my part its all about the 'X' and as I have listed mine as an XKR - X100 this is correct, just not a 'limited edition' which I accept.
Unfortunately the web site I have listed my car for sale on, seems to automatically add when the X100 is specified. I will attempt to edit this but beyond this its obvious from the listed pictures it clearly does not have the '100 limited edition' extra specifications
I feel happier in myself I have not tried to pretend I have something that is not factual! Thank you everyone this has been enlightening and greatly appreciated, many thanks
