Question: Has anyone contracted with either G7 Computers 6191 Stid Hill Rd. Naples, NY 14512 USA or AES MODULES | 11554 Davis Creek Court Jacksonville, FL 32256 | Ph: 888-241-8133 or any other for ECU inspection and repair.
Module Master performed some other work for me, but does not appear to work on Jaguar ECUs.
Hi im Dave I am the one he is speaking about, what is the issue with your ECU and what year is it off of, the 97 units are the most problematic due to the capacitor issues, the later ones are not as troublesome . You can message me hopefully I can help

Thank you Dave, much appreciated!
Having a few minor issues and now a potential major pending verification.
The major one could be the ignition drivers.
The minor are a sensitivity to static charge and not able to access some ECU programming functions. All wiring, grounds and connections have been checked.
Listed them here in case the discussion helps anyone.
Hi if yours is a early unit 97, 98 unit numbers LJA1410AH, LJA1410AK, LJA1410CA it is most likely the capacitors on the board they fail and leak on the board potentially damaging the traces. It is a common issue if you open the ECU you can tell if they leaked, or look at the top of the capacitors if they are bulged up they are failing. Any of the ecu repair companies know of this issue and to be honest any good electronics repair place can change the capacitors. The below picture shows what they look like when they fail. You can see the bulge in the one very clearly and the discoloration on the board. This unit i fixed myself replaced all the capacitors and cleaned up the traders and it came back no problem.
Ok yours being a 2001 these units are much easier to come by, the only thing you would have to do is get it programed for your car because of the key transponder. You may even get lucky put it in and see if the car starts as long as it has the same numbers
Do you have DTC codes being generated - if so which ones?
The ignition coils are driven by individual FETs (Field Effect Transistor) on the PCB, so if one coil is malfunctioning it could (however unlikely) be a damaged FET.
- but in 99%+ of cases it is a bad coil unit
On the AJ27 ECU (2001) the ignition is controlled by the primary CPU - if that is bad then the ECU is essentially completely dead. (I've never heard of one going bad, although it is obviously possible)
OBD2 serial interface is into secondary CPU, OBD2 canbus is into the primary CPU. But if secondary CPU is bad, that would generate a DTC via the primary (and many things would not work, like the throttle motor...)
So if you can shed any more light on the symptoms, that might allow more wild speculation as to the cause.....
UPDATE: received my repaired ECU unit from G7 Computers. John over there is a great guy with excellent follow-up. The technician reported that there was no hardware damage, however, "...there were several software failures found and fixed. It tested OK after we worked on it."
I was advised to, "...check the charging system for good steady voltage and clean grounds," after inquiring as to what could have caused these failures.
When I reinstall the unit and the original equipment replacement Denso ignition coils, the unit functions will be tested with a known good, dealer software access computer provided by a friend.
That's a very interesting update - so there were no hardware problems found, but the firmware presumably had got corrupted at some point, maybe from doing a jump start.
Hopefully that is all working now, so please let us know how you get on.
