Default Expansion tank plug needed - RESOLVED

i changed out the expansion tank with sensor, etc...and the plug coming from the firewall has a little metal keeper that flew off into the air somewhere...now the plug does not stay in....I looked at lots of extra plugs this car has, nothing like it anyplace I saw, in fact most plugs are different...which is kinda dumb...

does anyone has an expansion tank plug that comes from the firewall with the metal keeper on it then wish to sell me? Does anyone know where I can find such a plug to buy? no wreckers nearby.
the part hooks the wire from the firewall to the fluid level sensor on the expansion tank

Thank you in advance...and what happens that brought this to my attention, plug moves out of contact a bit and engine guarge goes through the roof and car goes into limp mode and fan cyccles and it is not over heating!....i get out push plug in a bit and it all gets good again....

Maybe you could fashion a new one with a paper clip or some wire?

i thought of that, not a fit, neither is solder or fine wire, it's a specific plug and piece of metal...so i have found another i hope.

symptoms...car goes into over heating after a few minute, no message on screen, only guage goes into hot and lights up on top of h part....fan goes on, car not over heating , then limp home restricted use happens but car still shifts and drives....

i will try and burp the system again also....figuring the last thing i touched is causing this...that clip just sailed away when taken off....it is sort of u shaped and very strong and fine metal.keeps plug firmly on expansion tank coolant level sensor....

its very specific and fiddly.

This is from memory but I am pretty sure that it is an EV1 like this. You will probably have to buy the whole connector to get the retainer.

The same connector is used on the side turn signals on our cars. Also used on older Bosch fuel injection systems. So pretty common once you know what to look for.

This brown plug?

If so, you're very unluckly. It's about the most robust harness plug on the entire vehicle.

harness plug, 2 wire, pigtail for coolant expansion tank sensor...i cannot find this anyplace...someone must know of one for sale someplace, I cannot be the only one that lost the metal piece when taking it off?????

Default thanks again

Well Bob came through, the wire keeper arrived, and it fit perfectly. The plug is now functional and another jag is still on the road thanks to Bob's consideration and his parts car.

to Bob and thanks to you for posting the successful resolution.

I've added "RESOLVED" to your thread title but anyone looking for the same solution could be out of luck unless BobRoy has a drawer full of harness plugs.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words. I'm glad I could be of help. I consider most of you to be friends that I haven't had the pleasure of meeting.

When I get to North Carolina maybe we can have a get together with my East Coast friends.
