Default A few messages

Well, it's my turn again. Yesterday backed her down the driveway to turn her around (2000 XK8 ragtop 120km).Went forward to line up then backed up into the driveway. The dash lit up and she went rough. Failsafe, no acl, no traction control and at first transmission fault. Got her back into the garage but she's not happy.Transmission fault not showing now.

Going out to read the codes. I recall something somewhere here about tranny switches failing.

Any ideas anyone?????

OK, I've got the first code as P1121 pedal position sensor, A circuit range/performance;
the second is P1111 System Pass and the third is a repeat of P1121 .

That's not what I expected the duplicate codes are curious.

P1111 is completely normal. You'll always get either P1111 or P1000. The pedal position sensor is the only problem. What model year is your car?

And the duplicate codes are probably just a code and a pending code. My scanner does the same thing, but it says "Pending" in front of one of the codes.

Oops... I should have read your post again. I see it's a 2000. Some people might disagree with me, but the first thing I'd do is to just clear the codes. Maybe this was just a fluke and it won't happen again for another year, if ever. If it's actually a bad position sensor it should come back right away.

My code reader would only erase one P1121 and the car still indicated CEL along with transmission fault now.

I pulled the battery off for a minute and was greeted with only the CEL and the code reader then erased the remaining P1121. All is well and a 20 min drive around town produced no further codes.

Question remains, what started all that?

Backing up into your driveway?!? <- a little sarcasm Is it inclined...how much?

Reminds me of that doctor joke where the patient says 'Hey Doc, my arm hurts when I do this'.

If the CEL is still on and the tranny fault, you've still got a stored code, try another OBDII scanner, just for grins.

Funny Matt.

The dash is clear now. No CEL and nothing showing on the reader.
