Fuel line valve? Need part number.
What is the concern with the fuel pulse damper incorporated in the fuel supply line?
Is it LEAKING?
The part is NSS (not sold or serviced separately) from the fuel line.
People seem fascinated by this part of the return-less system.
I have never replaced one but there are questions about the FUEL LINE WITH DAMPER AT FUEL RAIL C2N2587 often on the forum.
Please describe the fault.

Just to add to Bob's great reply, the fuel line damper helps to smooth out the significant oscillations in fuel rail pressure due to the injectors opening and closing. It helps maintain more consistent fuel pressure, and also helps dampen noises that can sometimes be heard in the passenger cabin. On the XJ40, a very common issue was a "helicopter sound" audible in the cabin when stopped and idling due to failure of the fuel rail damper.

I cannot seem to locate an OEM replacement fuel line damper for my 2006 xk8. Does anyone have experience using an aftermarket part, or running the car without it?

Suggest you update you info and indicated the year, etc and other info . The 4.0L probably has a different part from the 4.2L since one is a Return Line vs Non Return line EFI System. Fuel Pump pressure is different. Yours appears to be 4.2L
That part has nylon fuel line and is difficult to fit the nylon line to the parts. Ford Mustang used the same Nylon Line on their 5.0L cars. They were DIFFICULT. Some of the guys suggested using a Flaring Clamp to secure the hose and heat the nylon end in boiling water leaving about 3/4 to 1 in. protruding past the tool. Insert the part carefully and not collapse the tubing. The lines are 5/16" and available from Earl's, Areoquip or other AN hose suppliers at Speed Shops. There are A/M Pulse Dampers and some listed on Ebay. You only are damping a pressure spike, so no specific part spec. is required. The end joining the part & line to the fuel rail is a fitting that should be easier to link up with line. Possible to located a metal barb on both ends and then convert to AN?. AN is more flexible.. Recall a OLD post where a new unit including the Nylon line was replace at a joint near cowl.
